So I laid down the counter epoxy after practicing an a piece of wood I collected - well cut that wood was - and there are some "pools" formed in the epoxy job - so another coat will be necessary to bring the surface into the "flush state" desired - perfectly flat in a way with a fine epoxy coat showing the portal in reflection.
Today is a sunny day and the skies are blue - but when the skies are not blue - the light will still be reflected. Sometimes when viewing something 2-dimensional - which is all the dimensions available on the monitor/screen anybody views images presented here - sometimes the eyes play tricks on the brain - so know this before you contemplate going through any portal - but rest assured - there is is portal there - there are portals everywhere.
It is said, Ken that 'distance' can be proven to exist because a scientific process of repeating an experiment many times and getting the same result indicates a theory is valid. Thus, take a sheet of paper, place two dots and measure the 'distance' - voila proof - every time.
But, take the sheet of paper and bend it around so that the dots coincide - poof - no proof, no distance! Is it a paradox like "Zeno's paradoxes of motion which are attacks on the commonly held belief that motion is real, but because motion is a kind of plurality, namely a process along a plurality of places in a plurality of times, they are also attacks on this kind of plurality. Zeno offered more direct attacks on all kinds of plurality."
"In the fifth century BC, Zeno offered arguments that led to conclusions contradicting what we all know from our physical experience—that runners run, that arrows fly, and that there are many different things in the world. The arguments were paradoxes for the ancient Greek philosophers. Because many of Zeno’s arguments turn crucially on the notion that space and time are infinitely divisible, he was the first person to show that the concept of infinity is problematical." https://iep.utm.edu/zenos-paradoxes/
What you think P&S - was this a "good" story or not?
Twas a short story - short and sweet - but it connects with other stories - and truly - I did have a counter job I've been working on - for real on that - that makes the story better - does it not?
~
So I realize there were many questions asked in the two sentence above, so please - in a sense they were rhetorical - but guess what - guess what I think - I think now that the month of June has been reached - the time in 2024 has come - the time has come for stories uplifting - better stories about humans choosing to work together - ala Kropotkin's concept of Mutual Aid - the time has come.
~
But this story closes a loop on another story of mine - and the other story of mine is this one - and this is the one that led to "this one" above......if U know what I mean!
I got a lot of stories to tell - you wouldn't believe the material I have in reserve....but I'm thinking tis time now in 2024 for Resolution to commence asserting itself towards an objective of Justified Retribution for the sake of justice.
~
As always - and in peace....your friend from afar who makes porter fine and also now knows how to do a "counter-job".
Ken
ps - P&S - I've gotten so much tile-work - I'm gonna put up a backsplash special and I may also put some tiles on the mantles - and if I do - I'll make another story out of it - cause I don't know about you other than what I think I do know - but I know this about myself - I like to tell stories and share.....tis harmless...
I should add that both the concepts of infinity and zero are "problematic" from the standpoint of comprehension - I'd put forth they really are beyond the comprehension of the human mind - I got no problem with that - cause I recognize uncertainty is part of life.
I'm just thrilled, happy most of the time - just to be alive and experience living in the 3-Dimensional "reality" over time in my life - I'm thankful for that.
It sort of reminds me what Jesus said about grains of sand.....when it comes to infinity what is the point in trying to understand that which cannot be fathomed by the human mind? What is infinity raised to the power of 2? It is the same difference as the points on a piece of paper folded and then connected.....it is the same point.
At the end of the day, there are just a few simple rules I think one ought live their life by and these rules (principles) are as follows:
1. Do not lie.
2. Do not steal.
3. Do not kill.
~
Now of course there is nuance, but those three principles basically form the foundation of living a life humanely with others collectively towards an effort of making things better for those who follow us in the future.
Maybe, but I laid down another coat of the epoxy a few hours ago and most of the "pools" (probably "pits" is a better word for them) have now been eliminated - and I wasn't sure if this would be successful. The epoxy is still forming and curing, but I think I fixed most of the issues and now the point of diminishing returns has been reached on this "counter-job" gives me so much pleasure - and I reckon tis time to just let it be for the seven days it takes to fully cure.
So, I can say with confidence that the counter appears to be better protected now with epoxy strong than it was prior with just an acrylic topcoat (2 layers) - but yes indeed points measured two dimensionally in a plane are one thing in measurement, but the reality is we live in a 3-Dimensional space, and if the 2-D plane is curved then the points distance from each other will no doubt change versus a plane existing only in x-y imagination - and if the points are connected with a folding over the 2-D plane (think of a piece of paper), well then what is a "point" in the first place - just an imaginary concept useful for the sake of most math....and two points connected - are they one point after that? I reckon they are.
~
Regardless, I think many things are actually most evident - and they are just as they appear to the discerning student with an open mind.
~
Peace and your article today was excellent. Lots of back-and-forth happening in the Israel area today supposedly - what a tinder box that place is and I know who the offensive party is and I want the zigaboos to be eliminated. Ideologically, they are not conducive to future humanity. I believe I have gone on record with my sentiment in this regard.
P&S - this story connects to my other story I hope you realize - it is sort of a way to "connect the dots" in my frolicsome mind.....and the best part is I get a chance to express my views on things completely outside of any direct influence I might have - but it gives me solace to express these thoughts and if they resonate with anybody, the even better part is these stories are purely imaginary - and I'd put forth "harmless" in telling - but they do have a message that I think has merit. If not, no skin off my back - I'm just telling it like I sense it - 3-Dimensionally.
Warm Regards,
Ken
ps - the reflection in the images above ought be evident to be windows looking out upon blue sky - but when presented 2-D upon a monitor or screen - the human mind sometimes needs a reference point for proper perspective and no way one can have that better than I - cause I'm the one who took the pictures!
(ha, ha....it is all harmless in a way - but worth discussing I think)
Thanks Ken, and yes, imaginary is the essence of philosphical thought (and story-telling) which never ceases to fascinate me. Like you say, it's harmless but nevertheless can sometimes offer hope and lessons in what appears to be the motion picture we call reality - (Zeno again).
Ain't it ironic in a way how Zeno is spelled so close to "zero" and he raised the philosophical topic of infinity - that is probably not a coincidence!
I have one more comment on this comes to mind - it comes from this in the link you provided:
"In his Achilles Paradox, Achilles races to catch a slower runner—for example, a tortoise that is crawling in a straight line away from him. The tortoise has a head start, so if Achilles hopes to overtake it, he must run at least to the place where the tortoise presently is, reasons Zeno, but by the time he arrives there, it will have crawled to a new place, so then Achilles must run at least to this new place, and so forth. According to this reasoning, Achilles will never catch the tortoise, says Zeno. "
I remember when I was maybe 14 years old - me and a friend in the neighborhood named Arthur sort of discussed this - and at the time we couldn't come to a conclusion, but since then I have concluded this:
~
There must come a moment when "the smallest distance possible" has been reached - literally. And literally - that is the moment when Achilles passes the tortoise!
~
I mean think about it - you got an better explanation? Time plays a role in this smallest distance as well - tis the moment in time when the smallest distance instantaneously flips from being behind to being ahead.....and then the moment is over and a pass is made.
Well, I awoke this morning and checked the status of the epoxy, and lo-and-behold another layer was demanded. It seems the second layer applied - while it did fill in the pits nicely, along the edges of the recent application I didn't apply a thick enough layer - and then when it dried this was very evident and unacceptable after all the hard work.
So, I got in my vehicle went to the local Lowes store, purchased goods needed (mainly just a sponge roller) - along with a few other things that had been on the list associated with other jobs happening concurrently - and then I applied the 3rd and final topcoat broadly upon the entire horizontal surface using experience and the lessons I've learned on this job so far. That 3rd topcoat is now gently and steadily solidifying and curing and I think I am truly now done with this job.
Of course there is more work to be done, but in the future anybody comes to this place invited, I will say to them - stroke your hand over this countertop if you want to feel "smoothness".....all in all, while there are things could of been done better I know now in hindsight - all in all - I'm pretty pleased with the quality of workmanship on this epoxy job done for the sake of making the counter-top pretty resilient and the job was done "in-situ" with minimal waste and using what was already in place. I'm pretty proud of that effort - not in a sinful way proud, but rather - proud that I rolled with the punches and then responded accordingly, and then ultimately (I'll know for sure tomorrow) finished the job to my satisfaction.
This 6224 - and "things" are fixing to get exciting - I hope you are well prepared.

Agreed Ken - God's laws and common law offer my moral grounds guided by the teachings of Jesus.
