The other night - in the middle of the night - the same day Bloof Sploof’s carcass was found I felt uneasy and so I got my flashlight at around 3 am and I went out there to check on the birds - and not a one of them was there - they had “flown” the coop so to speak or somebody or something got a hold of them.
Holy-Moly - that makes a man uneasy when seems all efforts were for naught, but I prepared my mind to deal with the loss of the birds named. And that was that.
In the morning at the sunrise I went out there just to verify - and I’ll be a square in a circle, those five birds were just galivanting around - mocking me in a way I reckon - and maybe twas deserved - but I won’t deny and I never will deny - my heart beat easier after it turned out they were alive and well when I had spent hours dealing with what seemed to be their demise in my mind - and I thought it all was my fault.

So check back later I might add a few images here, but this morning I put in the final line of defense and that is left to do is finish the entry-way - the door if you will. I’ll get it done.

In Alaska, probably just about now a meeting is commencing - I sure hope the room is full of diplomats with a sense of what matters and what don’t and an awareness that justice must be served - Lady Libra will have it no other way! So hope springs eternal I reckon.

The chicks are fine, but the brats are on the menu tonight! Cooked on the grill they will be.
I count five there - Sploof Bloof is a dead blackbird - the buff’s are not - and they are secure one hopes.
These are some brats thawing - they gonna be cooked on the grill tonight!
I ain’t kidding around and it changes a man when he thought for a few hours at least all his efforts were for naught - it changes a man to go through that….but I was already formulating contingency plans - cause I choose LIFE!

Today’s pickings - notice the one bhut jolokia (“Ghost peppa”) starting to ripen and orangish in color - I picked it cause I noticed it and realized it was flawed in a way….
The birds are fine - got some gifts from my daughter to minimize odor, and put in the final “door” in their coop - they should be safe there no doubt - and in the evenings I will make it a matter of practice to go down there before I go to bed and “schoo” them into their coop safe.
Last night was funny, cause I went to do this - and sure enough one of the birds - I think it was “Waverly” - I think she is at the top of the “pecking order” - she had found an “upper limb” to roost upon and unlike the other pullets she did not appreciate when I told her - time to go to bed and got her in my hands with her waving wings and all and placed her there with the rest of the pullets in the coop internal and safer….but I’m sure time will come when I don’t even have to concern myself with that - cause these are some feisty birds - soon they will be able to defend themselves I reckon! That is good.
