So what you see in the image above is literally a small-scale "chicken coop" and yes indeed - it was made in China. I ordered it from Amazon and it was delivered much more rapidly then expected, but I got her to the Getaway Place today - got the packages from the Post Office - than you so much "Elizabeth" I think your name is and Brendan as well.....Elizabeth helped me get the package out of the office and Brendan let me know it had been there for a whole week or so this morning - it was bizarre in a way - delivery was way more rapid than normal - maybe it was a fluke, but as I've indicated elsewhere, I just purchased a new laptop and I was awaiting delivery of that - but that delivery - out of Louisville via Ontario, CA was much delayed....a little quandary of life I reckon - but nothing in the big scheme of it all when it comes to chickens - and there is a reason I am here now - I'm going to build this "coop" tomorrow and set it in place. Images will be forthcoming on this although I do have some other work I need to get done....so it might be a day or two. I'll do it - If I'm alive in a day or two - I will share another post - and update.
I'm looking at moving up the mountain into a trailer next to the national forest, with a chicken coup and no neighbors!!! Another New Year's goal, learn how to shoot a gun!
Longbows got the "distance" on the battlefield no doubt - and they make sense given the history of England - always shooting from afar is easy on an island. Why you think they used to be the best navy.....that was about a century ago!
Cross-bows on the other "pack a bunch" - and they are damn near as good as an ole 44 close up!

We just watched the set of "Dirty Harry" movies lately - you remember them P&S:
~~~ I quote ~~~
I know what you're thinking: 'Did he fire six shots or only five?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do you, punk?
Brilliant Ken, well done son - looking forward to following the future of your chickens. We have enough land here at the foot of our mountain in Fish Hoek to set up our chicken coup too - in the plan for later this year. But the snow Ken, Ugg, not a time to build a pen eh? I will never see snow again, and good riddance!
LOL Ken - I suffer from 'Raynaud's Syndrome', so when temps drop to 10C or lower my extremities, (fingers & toes), go numb, white, and take hours of painful recovery. Gloves etc make no difference, nor external heat applied. It makes living in northern climes a pain to say the least (no pun intended). https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/raynauds-disease/symptoms-causes/syc-20363571
What is very odd, Ken is that I am suffering chilblains now, in a very warm climate? But when UK is freezing. Is it possible that my body doesn't know I am in SA? I will see the doc this week and report back. It's very painful and I have to wear surgical gloves to protect from the lesions on my fingers and toes! The lesions are formed by fluid within the skin layers: Examples include vesicles and pustules. Video (10 mins) explains it well - it's complicated: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMpb_jPZdQ4
I will get to the rest of your comments this evening - very busy today on projects and meetings.
P&S - gracious I had not heard of that condition....it sounds dreadful.....it says is is more common amongst young woman: "This condition is most common in females between the ages of 15 and 30."
It is amazing all the aspects of one's body......perhaps you body does "think" it is in England.....or that you are a "young women????? " - Truly I'm not making "light" of it and please stay warm and remember your health is the "top priority".....
Indeed so Ken - and here in SA I couldn't be heathier - I swim every Sunday and lots of walking to town. But I have to say that 14 years in UK damned near killed me and it's taken a year to recover, after the setbacks of my accident in July, and pneumonia in September. All good now.
Uh - guns are OK - but I prefer using a cross-bow!
And I use a sling shot, Ken. The most deadly of all is the English Longbow, but you have to practice hard and long to work it right. https://www.medievalists.net/2015/10/why-was-the-longbow-so-effective/
You realize I'm from Buffalo P&S - I am literally IMMUNE to snow....but hells-bells I still had ear muffs on!
This also causes 'chillblains', I get the symptoms each cold season forever, so must move to a warm climate. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/chilblains/symptoms-causes/syc-20351097 and https://healthy.kaiserpermanente.org/health-wellness/health-encyclopedia/he.chilblains-perniosis.aa53848
