My father was a Navy Commander and he passed in 2001 if memory serves - before 9/11 thank goodness. He died in an instant, the same way I hope to of a heart attack or some such - just like most of his brothers did. Ain't it better these days to just go quick and not spend so much of one's hard earned lifetime savings in staying alive with low quality of life? I think my Dad knew that when he passed - I remember the day vividly. I was in Mexico at the time on a work assignment - I finished the job, then came home for the funeral.
My mother who is now 91 years old I think (born in '32 on 11/11) is in a memory care facility on the coast. I seriously can't stand those sort of facilities and I will NEVER EVER be in one - I will will myself to die before that happens, but my mother is still with us in body, but sadly not so much in mind, but she did smile last time I saw her and whistled to her the sound of the mourning dove. My Mom taught me to love games and she was a talented musician and a patient women and there were only a few times ever she and I didn't see eye to eye....but hey - can't agree all the time with your parents, but looking back and after having kids myself I know my parents......well, let me just say - they have my respect and my love.
I suppose I was blessed - me and my brothers and sisters - there were seven of us - to live in the home I did.
I have three brothers and three sisters - there were seven of us in all. My parent I now know even moreso being I'm the parent of two grown daughters were a fine team at raising us "hell-yongs" in Buffalo! Holy Moly - but twas a different time them - I remember being a kid growing up in Buffalo - it was a great place to be a child with lots of other kids around and some older folks as well tried to keep us in check!
Thanks Elusive1 for inquiring.
