I send out a thanks to those who noticed and "liked" this article - not cause I'm looking for "likes" but because it gives me solace knowing others are out there who appreciate what I have to share.

~

So today, I went into the toll booth after getting annoyed with myself for "choosing the wrong line" but it was not safe for me to get into the quicker line and when I drive I tend to be "defensive" and that is why since 1991 my driving record is "unblemished" - not one mark against me since that event in 1991.......

~

As it happens I went into the booth I had a $10 bill in hand - Hamilton is on it - and I handed said bill to the attendant at the toll booth on I-79 where the payment is $4.25. He gave back change proper and informed me there was an accident up ahead. I appreciate that sort of communication cause I made the choice to leave the interstate on the exit just prior to the accident and had the kind attendant fella not mentioned this I probably would have missed the opportunity that all things considered saved me at least 15 minutes after the accident occurred - at least. Plus, I got to see a fine part of West Virginia - and just let me tell ya - this state would not be easy to enforce one's will upon with outside forces cause this state if full of old hills and windy roads and the locals know the terrain the best.

Anywho - I got out of there and made it to the next exit on I79 after the accident I was informed about and I feel as if I used the information provided to me properly - I made a choice to go upon the exit and this time the choice saved me some time.

I wonder what the accident was and I tried to look that up - but sadly, info on this sort of thing seems to be lacking, and frankly speaks to another bit of info I think ought be transparent - just like in regards to the saboteurs of the pipeline from Russia to Germany - but there is still one line intact - why not put that baby into service and tell the Delaware dimwits to literally shove it up their ass.

Incidentally - check this out:

Specifically - this term:

“Burisma”

Does that “ring any bells for you” or are you under the spell of a Delaware dimwit?

I've only got as far as the 81, Roanoake and Harrisonburg but did meet a number of friendly West Virginian folks. Never seen 'Biscuits and Gravy' before but to a Brit, it seemed a strange but enjoyable combination, once a disbelieving West Virginian lady explained what you did with the 'Grahvy'!

Well Bojangles doesn't seem to have "penetrated" the West Virginia market, but Chic-Fil-A sure has and it was "crazy" getting to that restaurant with poor signage, but I found it after I realized I was going the wrong way. And then this is the funny part - I mean I got in a conversation with a fella in the line who informed me he had direct interaction with the governor of NC and he didn't care for said governor. I told this fella I had never met in my life, but he was wearing a Harley Davidson tee-shirt, that I ain't a big fan of the governor in the mansion there in Raleigh, and to be honest I wasn't really expecting to get engaged in such a conversation while I was waiting in line to get a spicy Chic-Fil-A sandwich off the hilly path parallel to I-79 in the hilly WV terrain (it also is a forest - that makes for potent defense), and so I sort of agreed with his sentiment but didn't make efforts to make a big deal out of it while waiting to order a sandwich and fries (waffle fries) along with a big water.

Then I went and took a piss and when I came back that fella was gone - he mentioned Fort Bragg as well and I said I concur - the name ought remain - but he was gone....a young fella called my name....I had to take a little step behind the counter to get my large water I left behind and then I departed said restaurant.

I think Bojangles could get something going there in West Virginia, but for some reason they don't seem to be there.

Lastly - I heard the rain in New Orleans today has been relentless as has the weather been most precarious in England. I hope you are well Greg and seems you are well travelled - you ought come visit me at my getaway place in Fries, VA.

We could sit on the deck and I will whistle if I feel like it or weave a story to tell if you want to hear it - I'm sure you got lots of good stories to tell likewise - so it would be fun!

ha, ha.

Thanks Ken and thanks for the invite, but we've had enough of air travel. Years ago, it was fun, but today ....

We've often had fun/interesting conversations in lines, in the USA - not here of course, as we don't speak to someone we don't know!

What we noticed was the unique nature of each place we visited. They had their own character and history and all were affected by the war of "Northern Aggression", as our friends called it!

New Market, in the Shenadoah, where the cadets took a valiant stand, in the war, was a wonderful visit, as well as being beautiful.

Finely typed Greg - I share your views on "air travel" - just a big hassle nowadays - stressful and unpleasant - I don't do it anymore.....

When we were in England we visited my daughter studying abroad in Portsmouth - we went to Stonehenge of course and I had a scarf from that very place around my neck during the total eclipse!!!!!

Best Regards,

Ken

Ah, Portsmouth. I knew it well as I went to school there. I was back a few weeks ago - so much has changed plus it looked a bit run down. I hope your daughter enjoys life there.

Hope you weren't disappointed with Stonehenge. In my experience, Americans are usually surprised by how small it is. National Geographic managed to make it look a lot bigger.

Greg - it was years ago - 2016 maybe....can't remember for sure.

For my daughter it truly broadened her experience and she made friends from all over Europe and became a more confident traveler.

I really enjoyed Stonehenge. We went to Bath as well - the Isle of Wight....and we also spent a few days in London. It was a good adventure.

Cheers!

Well, sorry if this has already been answered, but I don't think it has been - so let me do it:

~

"Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" is a song by Paul and Linda McCartney from the album Ram. Released in the United States as a single on 2 August 1971

~

The Carpenters In Concert is episode 1, Season 4 of the BBC's In Concert music television series, directed and produced by Stanley Dorfman. The concert was The Carpenters debut BBC concert, and filmed live in BBC Studios and first aired on BBC Two on November 6, 1971.

~

Uh read that close.

Uncle Albert song by Wings came out on August 2 1971 - or 8271 - 20th Century style.....and the Carpenters concert "aired" on November 6, 1971 - I should find out when the concert actually happened. Well, best I can tell - it happened on November 6, 1971 - so was it a "live" concert aired - or was there a delay - if there was delay I doubt it was from August.

~

So to conclude - the music is played in sequence in 1971 and I guess I'll just keep that book for myself!

~

Man - I think being in the ribbon may have changed me!

(ha, ha)

ps - typos will NOT be corrected....

What I desire the most now that I'm getting older is grandkids.

I sure hope this comes to fruition and I'm gonna do what I can in the background to make it reality - cause that is my prerogative as a potential future grand-dad.

So, I suggest to potential suitors that you make your desires known, but if you are unwilling to commit know this - other suitor beckon.

I want grandkids and I ain't kidding around!

You might knock off one wolf or the other, and the wolfpack might not get total victory, but undeniable that NC State is a University not to be trifled with when it comes to college basketball in 2024 - Same goes for UConn I reckon, but you might thing you can knock off one wolf in the wolfpack - I suggest you realize this - even if one gets knocked off the pack remains - it remains fearsome top predator collective - cause even the wolves know - Mutual Aid is where it is at!
