Garden Update #16 - 8424
Time to "Identify" some Pepper Plants
So, if you have been following the ‘25 Season’ gardening updates, except for some plants shared with me via my daughter’s associate and some plants that I overwintered and then put back in the ground - my pepper plants have been “way behind”. The ones I planted from seed were “stifled” for some reason - and I think I know why - but they now have been growing well as the weather has been conducive for this. So, finally they are starting to reveal themselves.
The images below mainly show this and I’m going to try to figure out which ones are which. I admit I did a poor job “labeling” this year in all the difficulties - but in a way that sort of makes it more exciting when baby peppers emerge. And I should add I’m surprised by some of what I have seen - cause it seems some hybrids may be emerging as well as some that I suspect are gonna be “mighty high” on the Scoville scale.
So - here are the images I took this morning.

Oh my - these appear to be more of the Golden Primotalii sort - I call them the “Golden P”. Two more plants growing them. This gives me joy.
These have the look of “Scotch Bonnet” - but I don’t think I planted seeds from said (I need to check back) - so my guess is they are “hybrid” - possibly Scotch Bonnet with Carolina Reaper.
I grew tabasco peppers in earnest a few seasons back, but I didn’t have any last year and I didn’t plant specific tabasco seeds this year - but lo-and-behold - the top two plants seem to be growing tabasco - now they started way behind but I do remember when I did grow tabasco the plants were most prodigious. The third one seems to be another hybrid - part tabasco maybe? I’m gonna keep an eye on these.
~~~~~~~
That is it for now - I really was hoping that one of these plants was growing the little “pea peppers” my friend shared seeds - I need to double check their name - but so far I don’t see any, but there remain several plants yet to reveal themselves.
Lastly - below is some big tomato along with a seeming “big tomato” plant showed up on its own accord - and that is possibly unusual cause usually the tomato plants that come back on their own are “cherry tomatoes” - but if these “big ones” start doing that - well - I’ll be happy man!
Hope all are well.
~~~ a little random edit ~~~~~~ I won’t forget this but to set the facts straight ~~~
This was the first hand of the game….I remembered incorrectly elsewhere but was basically accurate in description - needless to say for me the game went way downhill after this first-hand seems a statistical anomaly to me - and mind ya - I got statistic in my head when it comes to playing cards - particularly Oh Hell.

This ghost did not disappoint:

So today I was gonna pack up the birds and meet my lovely spouse at her father's place, but the rains came in and I said - honey - lets hold back for now - there is always Saturday.
So plans changed for the sake of safety and that makes good sense cause some risk is easily avoided - and that is really common sense now ain't it.
I'll see my father-in-law and his current partner on Saturday I reckon - twixt now and then several things are scheduled including arrival of the mobile sawmill to make some final cuts.
Life is good - and tis a blessing to be alive I reckon.
Tomorrow is a new day - and truly - let the best ideas prevail I say.
Not kidding around.
Why would I?

Now - one reason I like Substack is I can go back on make edits on story's told - and so now I'm going to read this closely - and really this story is so much a sign of the times.
