The grout was "wet" when I took the picture - it dries to more a a greyish hue/tint.
I enjoy trying to use up leftover tile from previous jobs, but in this job I mixed it up some, but there is an order to it - at least in my mind. I particularly enjoyed getting some experience with the "hexagon" pieces - and if you see the threshold on one side - the room there is going to be called "The Hexagon Room" - ha, ha.....
Been super busy lately, just came back to Charlotte only to have to repair some roofing on the porch that was damaged by the remnants of the storm called "Debbie"....but I think I've got it mostly taken care of for the time being - later on when things dry up some, I'll complete the repair job.
Hope you are doing well - I think I need a bit of breather......but reality is sometimes it is so much better to be busy than idle....but there is and needs to be a balance - especially during the month of "Gusto" - which is what I call August!
In the midst of doing this work, and I ain't a young buck anymore, but I can still get up and down on the floor.....anyhow, in the midst of doing this work , my middle finger rubbed the wrong way against a cut tile in manner that some blood flowed and the blood flowed upon the tilework, and frankly I said to my family - no tile job is "blessed" till some blood is spilled....and then I sent the picture to them of the blood on the tiles...that picture will not be shared - twas only shared with family direct. That is that.
So, I consider this tilework blessed in a manner, but tis family business I reckon....but some of my blood was left behind and it will be there in the future - my blood is in this work and in a way that makes it better in my mind - it proves I'm willing to bleed to get the job done. I've done it once, I've done it twice, I'll do it again.
Tomorrow, I put in the grout and then that is that - and I'll even put some grout on the mantle which I also put down some tile but have yet to share about that effort - tomorrow, I'll share pictures of the completed job. Both jobs finished.
I'm getting close to completing most of the work on this small house acquired by happenstance that others wondered why I wanted....but I knew after what happened, that I needed this place and I've put my heart and soul into it - and that will last forever - it cannot be taken away from me....there is beauty in that in my mind, and this little house I didn't choose must have chosen me I reckon. Tis more than ironic in a way as time moves on, and as time moves on, lets all pray for some learning of lessons - hard lessons learned in the 20th century, but I can imagine better times on the way - can you? I hope you can. Better times on the way.....better times beckon - just like Odessa does.
There is a rumor going around that some folks are about to be charged by Sheriffs and other caring souls and one of the ones to be charged was called out a year or so ago on a tale true I told here about a year ago and his name is Ralph Baric. Him along with Fauci rumor has it are about to be charged - and all I can say is - about effing time!
Whether it happens or not know this - the Wolfpack is on the HUNT!
Wonderful work Ken, you are a master tiler! You might even assist the Freemasons in their black & white tiling of their lodges! LOL!

Thing is - those tiles, black & white seem to be lacking hexagons - and hexagons are something I think have merit in tile work!
Plus - I prefer having colorful tiles and the glass-like ones I especially appreciate given their reflective tendencies on the floor.
I'm ready P&S - I'm ready.
