A Coffee Table in the Making
This one will be kept "in the family" - it will have coffee and ruby translucent tinting and I will share the process in images below - I'm just getting started on this latest project
As I said I would - at the end of this “story” - here it is - the final product - to be kept within the family:
Oh Lordy - tis a piece of work I say!
I got more in me - I want to make more tables - I want to share them - I could put an image you desire in the table - and then it will be customized for you - all I ask for is recompense for my efforts in artistry!
So let me know if you want something special - I’ll make it for you!

So here I am - tis 11:51 am on Monday February 9 - or per my nomenclature - 2926 1151, and I have made preparations for my next coffee table ambitions.
So - I share here the starting images - and I will update this article as I make progress. It will take a few days for the epoxy to cure.
Wish me good fortune on this - but I’ve learned from mistakes I’d like to think and I can visualize this already finished.
The next step is the first “deep pour” that will be tinted with translucent coffee resin colorant. It will likely take a quart or two to get the level desired - and I have the epoxy for the job. Let me take an image of that and then I got work to do.
~
The clock in this image is a bit off - but you can see the epoxy I’ll be using.
Now, beg me pardon - I got some work to do. I got something I’m making - gives me joy and this one I intend to keep in the family.

OK - it is 12:41 on the same day - the coffee pour is done. Here are the images.
Rose tint gets added next…..tomorrow or the next day I reckon. Its gonna take a lot of volume to bring the level to the desired plane flat surface upon these pieces of wood came from a Heritage tree.
So - check back later - and I’ll show that part of the effort. And be aware - it takes silicone to keep the epoxy where desired and “mold removal” spray to remove it from the mold when it cures.
I’ll show all the steps - this is not difficult - after so many lessons learned - so I have high hopes for this coffee table - that will remain in the family.

~~~~~~ I know I’m “pushing my luck” ~~~~~~
But I figured - why not?
What is there to lose?
~~~~
So I went ahead and finished off that one “A-Container” - no pigment added - just pure epoxy - mixed.
OK - time to let this sit - then the rose application happens.
I got more epoxy on order. I got enough to finish this job - and finish it I will.

Remember this if nothing else - I’m just trying to make a coffee table for Christ’s sake! So sometimes “bubbles” form and I use the propane device - in the image below - it is black and has a knob to control the flow of propane - and I use it to pop the bubbles - but I’m not sure yet if this is “value-added” - cause seems just new bubbles form after I use it - but in general I’m pleased with this new epoxy I recently acquired - so I have ordered up a stash of it - just in case it gets harder to get.
And now I share a final image - for at least 48 hours or so - God Willing I place the “rose-tinted” layer - and then - easy-peasy this job will be done.
Practice makes perfect I reckon. That is what I learned in grammar school.
Can you see the bubbles there - bubbles always pop - so I reckon I’ll let them pop on their own accord - up to a moment - and then if need be - I’ll put some propane upon them. I don’t care for bubbles in this coffee table - although I don’t mind the ones at the edges - they will get sanded down.
Till I come back in 48 hours god willing - I bid you adu!

Well - what the hell - there was a “bubble” there stayed too long so I figured why the hell not get the first layer of rose tinted epoxy in place - on top of that bubble.
So here are the images of that!
Rose

Mixed!
Outcome!

~OK~Fine~
Here is the screw I placed - this was not easily done!
For the sake of balance for Christ’s Sake!

Just ignore this addendum - but here is a question I asked the Brave ai:
(text deleteed)
Check this out - if I “pull my shit together” I could make a coffee table with this in it:
How you like them apples - I could do it. I think I will.

I’m just an epoxy artist thinking about my next project!

OK - Update - tis 21226 1441
Just did another pour - maybe one more to go - in about 8 hours or so!
The level has risen!
~
Warm Regards - tis a fine table and I added just a “touch” of coffee tint to this epoxy coat.

Job Done - image “2590” - tis 21226 1958
That is Evie and Chester in the background - this piece remains in the family - tis job done!

Hells-Bells - I just had to do “one more coat” - this basically sort of has to be the last one cause I’m reaching the limit of the level - so - in conclusion here it is. Tis my Valentine’s Gift to my “honey” - I’ll probably post one more image when it is a table proper.
Warm Regard to all readers:

A Poem I share freely - italics be better - but "whatever":
~~
I've been in a "metaphorical" battle with
the epoxy coffee table I'm trying to make
as evidenced in this article today
~
at the end of the day and not pictured
I finally had to put a screw in
the middle - for the sake of balance

Hello Ken and congratulations for your set up. What kind of foam are you using there? Reminds me of the many trials and errors with the addicts that never wanted to get me what I was asking for. I devised a template set made of silicone that you can compartmentalize depending on size needs. Sandwich style plywood with two layers of silicone on each side. I wrote a place in Fort Lauderdale that sells slabs and makes river tables, but I have not heard back from them. Maybe I am just too naïve for this world - thinking that I can continue with what I already did so well? I'll wait a little longer and then I will try to connect with a place in Tampa that sells tropical hardwood. Like you - I need to create something to keep sane in a world that has lost its marbles. All the best as always.
