Transfer from A to B
Plants in the ground and plants in new containers
OK, I’ve been thinking that I’m going to try to keep my future posts to about 1 per week and maybe even on the same day - maybe Sunday or maybe Monday or maybe another day……
Today is a Saturday and it started out rainy, but now it is sunny. Forecast predict some winds blowing more than normal this afternoon, but what is more than “normal”…..in fact, literally, just now as I typed this, a spider showed up on my monitor, and that has changed my plans….I’ll include a picture of it with the others.
So the pictures below, why not start with the spider, also include plants taken to our getaway place, some of them planted in the ground, some of them put in their own containers because it is too early to put them outside. For good measure, I also include a picture of plants left behind for the time being.
Here are the pictures:
Image 1 - Spider
This spider, I think it is a “jumping one” is on my monitor - I don’t mind spiders, I like them, but this spider is moving around and I’ve already seen it again in another place…..I tried to get it to crawl onto a piece of paper, so I could set it outside, but it was having none of that. I suspect I will see it again later. It is pretty impressive if you look close.
Image 2 - Transportation
These are the plants I transferred to our getaway place on Thursday.
Image 3 - Beets, onions, and lettuce in the garden place
So, it is easy to the lettuce. The one style of lettuce (I think it is called “Bibb” lettuce or “Boston”), I grew last year and it was a piece of cake and it doe real well. This year the seedling sprung nicely and now they are happy to be planted. The other lettuce is a different type, but did not germinate as well. Maybe you can see the beets planted (purplish in tint) and they may look a bit weary, but they looked better this morning then they did yesterday after I planted them, so I’m encouraged. If you look real close you might see where the onions have been planted - but I assure you, they are in there near the beets.
Image 4 - heirloom tomatoes proud keeping the exhausted cherry tomatoes compan
So, there are four of heirloom tomatoes plants (“Cherokee”-style I think), that have been in many of the pictures presented earlier and they have been robust. I put each of them into their own dedicated felt containers and they will be enjoying the next few weeks under the new grow lights. Today it is warm and pleasant presently, so I left them outside for a bit, but I just brought them back in because even though they look good, it is stressful to be transplanted even when done with utmost caution, which is what I did - I don’t think the roots were exposed for long and the timing was good because I was able to separate the four of them without too much root damage.
The poor cherry tomatoes I tried to save from last year are totally stressed out and I’m not sure they are going to make it…..but I tried to trim them back, give them water, and they will also be under the new grow light setup. Wish them luck.
Image 5 - Babies back home
These are the plants “left behind” for the time being, but they are happy so far I think and I’m super excited about how all the peppers are doing because did I not say - peppers are gonna be my “thing”…..I think I did on an earlier post and so far so good with respect to that ambition, but I feel better when I get these peppers in the ground.

Until next time kind readers. Stay strong, stay resolute, and be kind to others.

Did you know that transfers from "A" to "B" are happening all the time? They are unstoppable. Everything is in flux in time.....you could be in a wheel chair unable to move most of the parts of your body, but if you are conscious, then things are transferring around in your brain. Within your brain resides your mind some think, but, I doubt you would be conscious if your "gut" wasn't working, so could be the gut is more important, or at least just as important, as your brain.
I'm glad my legs still work, my arms, my shoulders, and my neck. I have my own mind, my own head, my own brain, and my own will. I have free will.
Today on the river was unusual because typically the fog will be there in the morning if it is going to be there, but this morning was relatively clear, and then for an odd moment....the fog rolled in. I'm not sure what to make of that, but I saw it with my own two eyes and then it registered in my brain and that is why I love the place here where I am at presently - tis our getaway place, and my dog desires a walk, so I better give her what she wants - she will let me know if I don't.
I'm sad to report that I don't think the cherry tomatoes are going to produce any more fruit and so I'm not sure I did them any favors when I pulled them out of the ground and tried to save them for the next season - lesson learned I reckon. The other tomatoes, the ones I transferred into larger containers, they are looking good strong and ready to go when the time comes to put them in the ground.
You can rest assured as long as I'm still around I will be reporting on how things go and let me leave you with this - it is most important.
It is good to have good things, but it is better to have good friends!
Peace,
Ken
That is one cool looking spider with the ice blue eyes and spiked hairdo! I wish the cherry tomatoes much luck because I am a tomato freak. As far as the peppers, when I tried vegetables many years ago the only thing that did well for me besides a very nice grape tomato bush was the peppers.
