I HOPE YOU GET THIS--

5/6/2024

Hello Ken,

I just read your proclamation that “extols the virtues of local commerce and governance as well as individual liberty for the good of all.” You’re seeking a “Confederacy of Communities committed to a peaceful and better future for all people.”

My first impression, on reading this piece and AFTER looking at your website, is that you are a gardener and a man concerned with homesteading and creating a better world, at least the world that you run. Your work with plants seems deliberate and detailed; you seem able to tend to the individual plant and supply its needed requirements for survival. This is great.

I like how you in your writing talk about small communities and how they should work together to define and describe the laws of engagement with each other— regarding behavior and property.

I agree with you that governing bodies in America have become too large. And I liked that you provided definitions at the end of your paper— smart move.

Regarding your words around community participation and ownership… they sound good on paper, but in practice they often fail. For instance, I live in what is called a “village”— it’s small and it’s self governing. In my village there was tried a community garden— a place “owned" by the town… People who sought to help with the planting were then given the results of the products they planted. It began well, then broke down. Why? Because nobody owned the garden-- it was community owned— and they who worked harder than the others gained no values above they who worked very little— in time, the hard workers vanished and the undertaking fell apart.

Another instance: where I live, the neighbors are constantly pressuring others to ‘volunteer’ to help the community— there’s a place here that supposedly helps the poor— gives them stuff— clothing, food. In the beginning, there were many volunteers. People did this, that, this, that, helped the poor. But, as nobody owned the business, it was kinda chaotic; that is, until the three females showed up... three females who found this “community” situation ripe for their gaining power for powers sake. Thus, they came in and dominated. What’s left of the place: it’s run by the three dominators… and run poorly.

Finally, reading your piece— I noticed your use of large words, each one freighted with multiple meanings. I’d like to suggest you steer clear of this kind of language; it’s the language of they who seek to say nothing and cloak that fact in big words that intimidate others.

I do NOT believe this is your goal.

From what I see of your website, you seem to be a man deeply worried about America and the world, deeply engaged in wanting to make things better. I’d just suggest staying close to home— your home, your mind, your soul, the details you know about and run in fear of generalities, those words that carry too much freight and too little value for survival.

That’s it, sir.

Good luck with your life!

I hope you don't mind, but I have "pinned" your post. If you would prefer that I don't, then just say the word. I've come back and read what you said close - it is true.....I love the metaphor....I love the possible double-meaning of it - in my mind - maybe I'm wrong - sometimes that facilitates learning, but your common sense advice is well taken on my end - that is why I have pinned what you shared.

Thankyou.

I would also like to call out that you were true to what you said you would do - I respect that.

Sincerely.

From the get-go at this site.....on the first "pee-wee" story I shared - I expressed my views regarding comments. Loren, I really appreciate the effort you made to share your thoughts with me - shared fairly - I will give them consideration and they really to be sappy about it - they make me happy. I'm happy somebody has finally read some of the stuff I been posting!

You are fine in my mind and I'm sure we probably don't agree on all things, but I look forward to reading what you post if you desire to post more articles - really - that is part of the beauty of Substack.....it is a good place to meet folks.

I hope the best for you and if we were face-to-face, I'd ask you to sing a song the way you do......but it would be even better....if it was a group gathering listening to you singing.

I think what you said about the community garden is accurate assessment of it - that is why I think we all ought have our own garden - if we got no soil or proper sunshine, then hell yeah join a community garden I reckon - but don't try to dominate.

Lately - and yes this is an edit - but lately - some of the ladies they are fierce in action - but I had two daughter and no sons and so I know how to interact with the ladies even if sometimes they don't think I do!

Lucky for me, I can focus on my own gardening efforts on my property - mine and my wife's.

Peace to you!

Nice Ken - it's always a good feeling after a job well done! :-)

I could bore you with some of the details - the pollen that accumulates in that porch is really something else - the particles are so fine I had to use a pressure washer on the job - I discovered several years ago how much that helps expediate the effort.....

~

As for the porch, in 2019 I had to replace all the old screens - as well as some rotten wood - that was a damn helluva fun job - but I needed help. It was a 2-man job at minimum. The wood beams there so-called "4x4's" they are Douglas Fir beams I got at Home Depot I seem to recall and they are coated with protective sealant and the tricky part was figuring out how to support the beams that touch the tile pieces already installed - it was seriously a good job and I'm glad I had somebody named Christopher and I had recently met to assist with this.

I'll show a picture of one key ingredient - cause I still have several tubes of it - I'll post this image on this article.

Thanks P&S,

Ken

Thanks, Ken - we are both builders and creators but this is part of our upbringing which for me, was magical. My Creator dropped me into this low-vibration place called Earth, of which I had no choice. It was my mission to learn about His magical power and He has blessed me with His angels (Psalm 91). I am still learning.

I am humbled by His mercy.

You and me both P&S.

I feel blessed in a way - I remember when you first commented upon a comment of mine at Miss Margaret Anna's place - and you were inquiring about my temperament if memory serves.

I think it is a good thing we have met up so to speak from afar - and have chance to discourse and share ideas.

thank you,

Ken

ps - on another place I frequent a fine well-studied lady inquired - are you "ai" - I said to her - hell no - I think she has concluded that I wasn't kidding around - I hope so!

Protect & Survive's avatar

Ha Ha - who knows where AI is going, Ken, but I am ignoring it! Yes, we are connected as the angels have decreed, and so one day when our Lord allows, we will shall share that porter!

Cheers

I hope so and no disrespect, but sometimes the angels are fickle - either way in my mind it makes no difference. I respect the angels and uncertainty as well - I bow down before them both, but before both of them - I bow down to the children.

He who does not bow before children - is a man lost his sense of what it means to be young in spirit - she who holds a grudge loses understanding of the power of a child's spirit.

That is what I think P&S - I'll take that sentiment to my grave.

Respectfully yours,

Ken

Agreed Ken, the children are the future and must be nurtured, valued, and protected. Sadly some adults fail to do so. My own four children are a credit to me and themselves.
