Garden Update #19 - 101825
The Season is Coming to a Close - My Plants Many of Which Started out Stifled Have Once Again Amazed Me!
Here is todays pickings from about an hour ago:
Lots of different peppers up there - some of them may be “one of kind” variety - in particular notice the Scotch Bonnet hybrid (in the back) and there is a group there I think is a hybrid of the Golden P and something “thicker”…..here more details in the images below.
The pepper plants remain vibrant - what is there is mostly the one I call the “Ghost Mama” - she is three years old and I’ll be trying to overwinter her again.
The tabasco literally showed up out of nowhere this year - I have several plants and they are going gang-busters just now - I pick em easy when they are red but will probably have to pick these all in a few weeks ago when the plant gets harvested. By the way, at the grocery store I saw some simple pepper sauce in vinegar (using tabasco) and glory be I couldn’t believe how expensive it was…..odd that is.
OK - this is the “Golden P hybrid” I mentioned above - gracious when ripe these might be the hottest peppers known to mankind. 😊. I’m planning on overwintering this plant as well.
Here is the kind of amazing to me “Scotch Bonnet” hybrid - what an odd looking pepper that is - but beautiful in a way - I’ll probably overwinter this one as well cause I have tasted it - and it is good.
This is a lonely Golden P from the mama plant I overwintered - something tells me the chickens might like this pepper!
This is a row of peppers that had been stifled - I kid you not - when I put them in the ground they were not even two inches tall. Several varieties showed up.
After I took the images above I invited the chickens into the garden area - they really enjoy it there. In fact, let me share this:
In closing let me share this image of some plants my daughter shared with us - they are perennial and appreciated by the hummingbirds and really have done splendidly this season.
Well - I expect at harvesting time in a week or so I’ll publish the final update of the ‘25 Gardening season. It has been another great year gardening.
Peace!

I’m an angel investor small-scale on Substack - so I got privilege to post this and so I will. It originated from a well known place and I’ve made my own personal edits - you ain’t got no problem with that now do ya?
Lets all hope this “action” comes to nothing, but if it does be ready for unexpected outcome.

How bout I add a tune here lassie! I got some Scottish in me - more Irish but Scotch-Irish they say! A tune for you lassie:

So I wasn't kidding around about the simple pepper sauce mentioned.
Here is what it is selling for on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Texas-Pete-Pepper-Sauce-4-5/dp/B000M0QWM8/
$10 bucks!
Are you kidding me?
It was 13.99 at the grocery store - highway robbery....
What is going on when a simple recipe of tabasco green in vinegar with a little salt demands a price of 10 bucks? Something is amiss. I mean I could make gallons of this stuff if I decided to have a little plot of tabasco next year - and maybe I will.
Highway robbery. I got better sauce for less - easy.
