Check back later for Updates - tis 5225 916 per my simple "nomenclature"
Update: 52925 1255
Update: 52225 1501
I ain’t done with it - the gaps need to be fully filled - but I keep on learning and I think I’m getting better - so here it is gaps and all!
Update: 52125 1715
Update: 51125 1809
The first cutting board cracked - I put too much weight on it - here is the 2nd one - and I got a 3rd on the way for my wife’s father and his wife - but nobody tell please - this one is gonna be….well time will tell. Here is the 2nd - my gift to my wife for Mother’s Day - and being she is a mother - we got two daughters - well - this is a gift given in LOVE.
Update: 5825 1034
Check this out. Cutting board in the making. Mineral oil food-grade applied already. Some beeswax forthcoming. Tis for my wife as a gift - so don’t tell please.
It’s a Mother’s Day gift. From the heritage tree wood.
~~~~ uhhh… I ought admit this - I messed it up - sorry honey! ~~~~~~
I’ll get the cutting board correct next time - and that won’t be far away - just you know for the sake of fair disclosure I make this edit - now the time is 5825 2257
~~~~~~ that is that…
Update: 5425 1639
So - the fine mica powder arrived today 24 colors - 10 g each. And this is the outcome of my “practice” effort:
In about an hour or less I think I’ll remove the tape on that piece of furniture - it was shown in some images below - that I have given a “makeover” - it ain’t no treasure per se, but rather is a solid piece of furniture I’ve appreciated for many years - and the way it has been used lately sort of has “roughed it up” - ergo - I used it as “practice” and at the same time gave it a makeover. If all goes to plan - it will have a solid epoxy coat where it is critical - and will last another few decades.
This is a “cowbird” egg - we are pretty sure - the little fledgling cowbird fell out of the nest today - while I was unplugging a cord, and I’ll post pictures of it soon enough - here is the egg the cowbird tried to put in the nest again for goodness sake - I mean come on mama - you trying to over do your parasitical behavior and your first baby been released from the nest - and the other ones there - barely been fed - are starting to chirp up mama - get a life cowbird.
As it is - the egg you laid in a desperate attempt to offend the nest again - had a crack in it - so it was removed and dispatched - just after the photo above was taken. That is downright audacious behavior by said cowbird mama - if I see her she might wish I hadn’t….I don’t care for mama birds dropping their eggs upon others. Moreover, was a dumb plan cause even if said egg - cracked it was from the get-go - hatched - them other chicks would have dispatched of it rapidly I suspect - so good thing it cracked and didn’t have to suffer through all that craziness…..
damn mama cowbird - who the hell you think you are?
~~~~
Are you ready - here is more detail - including first the cowbird fledgling jumped out of the nest on its own accord - ain’t nobody coming to save that chick…..and a stack of potential cutting boards (get you mineral oil and beeswax for that), and lastly the two chicks natural been underfed after that cowbird got in the nest….
That is the fledgling jumped out of the nest.
These are the two chicks finally have some room
These are some pieces of wood I cut today - future cutting board - and mineral oil along with beeswax are on order - for the time being I don’t want these thin slices to warp!
Just a bit more artistry in the making - but without epoxy for the cutting boards - and when my wife says she wants something - I try to deliver!
Here is the sort of beginning of this - I mean I did cut the piece earlier - and now I’ve added the first “round” of epoxy.
~~~~~ interjection here - this must be the last one - but after I screwed up the one side - I flipped the piece of delicate wood cut precisely over - and I did this - and I think I’m just gonna leave this alone for the most part:
It is covered in epoxy. BK, 2525 1459
~~~
Stirred it in a jar after adding 2-1 ratio I hope - along with some ink-jet dye…..
~
I’ll be updating this hopefully - and I already know where this piece is destined!
Peace,
~~~~~~
I literally just noticed this - what do you see in this image?
Round 2 already done - presented as a video - the color and amounts changed.
So - timestamp:

~~~~~~~
uhhhh….I’m sorry but I want to say I found that video somewhat “spooky” - I mean the shape forming? That was not on purpose I don’t think…..
5225 1004
Oh well - I’m curious if the ink-jet dyes “take”….time will tell.
~
this is likely the final edit for this today - I need to “let” the epoxy cure.
BK - 5225 1047
I can’t help myself - you want to know what I see in this?
I see a little girl climbing a tree and on the lookout!
BK, 2525 1111
~~~~ tis only fair I try this ~~~~
~~~~
For the sake of that fun movie my wife and I watched recently…
OK - this is fun, but I think I need some time to contemplate - what the hell I’m going to do with this “Artistry in the Making”:
Looks like a messed up Buffalo in a storm to me!
I got some touch-up to do…..plus - plenty more epoxy!
~
BK, 2525 1336
One last edit for the time being I mean it - cause I don’t want to show the picture of what I just did - really messed it up…..but in the meantime listen to this - it is good Jazz:
Plus - I realized I have some sanding tools and maybe after I give everything a bit of time to solidify and cure together - I’ll sand it back down to how it was for I messed it up with one too many additions!
Final Edit I declare on this bit of ongoing artistry - for the time being!
And the day is May 2, 2025 - or 2525 as I like to express - and the specific time of the day “Eastern some such time in the us of a” is basically 2:20 pm or 1420 per my nomenclature - and as I have typed tis now 1421.
See you all later any readers out there - “are there any….I think so” - and good news is many of the sprouts are doing better - and after next Tuesday - there will be an update on that - but one step at a time.
Tis 1422 now or 222 pm - if you ain’t into military time.
~~~~
One last little bit of nice music
I bid you adu!
Ken
~
Its been a good day - a day of cleaning pollen and working together - and how close to the “original” do you think this is in its current status?
How close dear reader.

For those paying attention (so to speak - I mean those interested I reckon) - here is my plan for tomorrow’s work I hope happens:
The time now is 5525 - lots of 5’s there - my preferred number I should add - and the time in 1432 as the “video is being processed” - uh - this could take up to several minutes! I’ll post the time it complete - it is my plan for tomorrow - unless of course the fella coming here with the mobile sawmill has a better idea, and if so - I defer to that.
OK - tis 1434 - time for better ideas I reckon - what u think?
BK, 5525 1435!
So - I think I got one side and the other - I think I got em both on this fine piece of Southern Red Oak lumber - I got a vision in my mind of both sides on this piece of woodwork.
I play for keeps - I hope you do as well.
Artistry shared freely!
BK
I'll tell you this - the yellow and cyan - respectively - turned into green in mixture.
Edit - the mixture was epoxy both resin and hardener - and the dyes from the ink-jet printer so misbehaved lately - so misbehaved......
~
So why waste ink on a misbehaved Canon printer - two of em when I thought I knew better - causing nothing but trouble - and it is insidious - and truly - this is why local production is preferred - and we got the know-how - we just need the equipment - and that is delicate no doubt - but imagine local communities - all mostly self-sufficient - imagine that possibility.
